Massage for dogs... yes, I know it sounds crazy but once you get into a routine of giving your dog a massage, you will realize you and your dog look forward to that moment together.
There are many professional canine massage therapists that help with many things but that doesn’t mean you can’t use some basic techniques on your own. Most of us know how to give a basic massage and pet our animals, but did you know that a calming touch can help you with things such as nail cutting or anxiety? Just spending time together can really lift a dog's and your spirits.
When you take the time to just sit with your dog and lovingly pet and massage your canine you will have gained more trust, more love, and it’s good for the soul. Like us, when we get a massage, our bodies relax, our minds are more open and we feel good. It's the same feeling your canine will get. Dogs are much easier to please than humans.
Setting time aside for bonding and massage will become such a habit and truly will bring you and your pet closer than your realize. Just like a walk or visit to a dog park, a massage gives your canine a feeling of security, a feeling of importance ,and is all-around great for their joints and bones, not to mention their mental state.
Set time on the floor or couch whatever the two of you are comfortable with and just start petting and massaging with love and intention. This also is a good way to examine your pup for lumps or anything out of the ordinary.
